Masters At Work presents to you the 15th installment of MAW Lost Tapes this spring. It’s all about the groove, Gene Perez, an accomplished electric bass player in the jazz, latin, rock, pop, and r&b sounds has been playing for over 40 years with some of the biggest names in music. He began with the latin greats Willie Colon, Eddie Palmieri, and worked his way to hundreds of sessions with Louie Vega & Kenny Dope. Notable basslines which the crowds on dancefloor have sang along with are the Masters At Work remixes and productions “Canned Heat” by Jamiroquai, “To Be In Love” by MAW featuring India, “Life Goes On” by Little Louie Vega & Arnold Jarvis, “When You Touch Me” by Hargrove Featuring Lynae, “Elements Of Life” and “Brand New Day” by Elements Of Life, “Soufflé” by Mondo Grosso, “R U Using Me”, “Into My Life (You Brought The Sunshine)”, and many more. On this masterpiece Gene has taken the track “Gene’s First Bass Dub” and played a notable and catchy bassline, and this was back in 1992!! Here with new eq on the bass and drums, and an updated mix, he’s created an infectious groove driving and lead by this unforgettable bassline. Gene is a genius bass player, tasteful in all his recordings and has that special “pocket”. Masters At Work are proud to have worked with Gene Pereze for over 30 years!!
The “Craze Bass Dub” is perfect for dance floors today, it’s all funky deep bass with organ riffs and stabs. To think this was Masters At Work back in 1992 !!!!
